My mother: Pure passion and inspiration

In this post I will talk about my mother, my mentor and source for inspiration. Her lessons in the kitchen at home are my main reason for being a chef: I took them through the years building them into a passion. Learning recipes from my mother that she learnt from her family members has been the first step I took into doing pastry at home. Let me tell you more about her. W hen she grew up, cooking was the first thing her mother told her as in our culture is common that woman learn to cook at a tender age. Through the years this has been very useful, I remember when I was little  she used to  made extra cash and baked on weekends. The thing I remember the most is her baking her famous "Quins Cake", very popular in South Africa, I start helping her doing her  mise en place  without even knowing what was that:  breaking eggs and counting the cups of flour for her while she was adding the baking powder and getting the baking trays ready by basing them with butter.  When

Introducing Superkabza

Hello! I want to start this blog by introducing myself. I am Kabelo Kalebe, 24 year old cook. I was born in South Africa and I have a love for good and healthy food. The main reason of starting this blog is to share with you my passion for food, culture, photography and my knowledge and experience of taking day by day ingredients and making a simple and healthy light meal in a short time. I will also tell you about my adventures which got me to this point. So where did my passion come from? In the year 2010 I used to work in a hotel in Protea in the front office and the bar, where I got the chance to get in touch with the kitchen. That´s when I realised that I wanted to be in the culinary world. So I decided to study to be a cook in the Mafikeng Institute of Hotel Management in the North West Province, South Africa and graduated in the year 2012.
